Are you ready for Free Shipping Day this December 18th?

You should be—it’s the perfect chance to draw in last-minute Christmas shoppers and maximize your holiday sales. Who wouldn’t be excited about free shipping and delivery by Christmas Eve?

Thousands of merchants participate in Free Shipping Day, a coordinated online-shopping event every December 18th where businesses offer free shipping with delivery by Christmas Eve. According to the event organizers, Free Shipping Day now stands side-by-side with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. In fact, for two years in a row, Free Shipping Day has beat Black Friday’s online shopping by over $250 million.

So why wouldn’t your dealership want to jump on board? Here’s how to get started:

  1. Choose a promotion.

Free shipping can be tricky in the auto parts industry, when there are so many heavy, oversized, or odd-shaped shipments going out. You need to figure out a promotion that makes sense for your business, based on your pricing strategy.

For example, you might want to only offer free shipping on orders over $100. We also recommend excluding oversized items so you don’t lose money on your promotion.

  1. Run an email campaign.

Customers can’t shop with you if they don’t know what you have planned!

Once you plan out your promotion, invite previous customers via emailto buy those parts on their Christmas list during Free Shipping Day. Make sure to send an email a few days in advance so they know what to expect, and another on the 18th to remind them that the day has arrived.

  1. Promote it on your site.

Add a banner to your website to promote your Free Shipping Day deal. You can also make posts to whatever social media you use, such as Facebook or Twitter. Spread the word!

Once you’re set up, all that’s left is to wait for the big day. When December 18th rolls around, make sure you’re prepared to deal with all the orders and get them fulfilled and shipped off as soon as possible. This is a great excuse to reach out to people on your email list and get the back to your site.
